Item Description

Tsumeb is certainly one of the most impressive mineral-producing localities in history, and not only did it yield a large number of superb crystallized specimens, but it also had a good amount of "oddball" specimens, including many pseudomorphs and ''casts'' like this piece. This specimen features sparkling, off-white colored Dolomite crystals which have formed a hollow ''cast'' after botryoidal Smithsonite. If you flip the piece over, you can see the hollow interior and thin "shell" of Dolomite, along with some accenting green Duftite for a nice touch. I've only seen a handful of these over the years, I have to believe there could have only be a couple pockets ever found, and this one is in great shape compared to most I've seen. The video tells the tale of this piece, as it might look somewhat "plain" on one side, but underneath there's a lot going on. A really cool piece that dates back to the 1960s-1970s era at Tsumeb. Valued at $950 in the inventory.
