Item Description
Dissakisite-(Ce) is an exceptionally rare member of the Epidote Group, which was first discovered in Antarctica! The best and most well-known examples are those from the famous Trimouns Mine in France, well-known for its REE minerals. This piece is a fine example of this elusive material featuring a sharp, well-formed, lustrous, prismatic crystal of gemmy brown Dissakisite-(Ce) measuring 8 mm, with a few additional smaller crystals on white rhombic Dolomite matrix. It should be noted that these specimens were labeled as Allanite-Ce, for years, but recently analysis shows they are in fact Dissakisite-(Ce). A great piece of remarkably hard to find material from this classic locality.
