Dipyramidal Quartz on Crystallized Hematite (Belsky Coll.)

Item Description

Large plates of the bladed hematite are rare from this locality, comparted to druses and massive growths. Gem-like, glassy, dipyramidal quartz crystals to 1.3 cm are richly and aesthetically scattered on the LARGE CABINET specimen covered with scintillating, jet-black, hematite blades. The B side of the massive hematite matrix is covered with super sparkly specular hematite. This spectacular and excellent large two-sided piece is from the famous Beckermet Mine in Cumbria. A very trivial bit of bruising is noted, but is only a modest detraction. Classic combination material from this noted locale. Valued $750-900. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
