Dioptase on Plancheite

A beautiful, rich emerald-green, translucent and lustrous, 2.4 cm, dioptase crystal to 1.5 cm is aesthetically set on matrix with smaller crystals. Botyroidal powder-blue plancheite flanks the miniature and is a very nice and colorful compliment. Mindouli is the Type Locality for plancheite. While not as well-known as famed Tsumeb or Reneville for dioptase, this locality has produced some excellent examples of the species. And on contrasting blue plancheite, the combination is especially attractive. The primary dioptase crystal is pristine and the bit of periphery wear is a very modest detraction. Excellent and uncommon older combination material from this locale from the 1960s or 70s. This is a sharp specimen, a small miniature of exceptional color. valued $300-400
