Dioptase w/ Calcite

Item Description

Gemmy, rich emerald-green dioptase crystals, to about 7 mm, are festooned on the scuptural mounded matrix of this showy and rich specimen from famed Tsumeb. Very glassy calcite crystals on one side and the back are a classic and desirable accent. An unknown green copper oxide coats part of the base of the piece, adding character and contrast. A modest bit of bruising and the periphery wear, mostly at the top, are noted, but this remains a very rich, excellent and highly representative combination example of the species and renowned locale. Much better in person.
