Item Description
This much less well-known Republic of Congo dioptase locality, compared to renowned Tsumeb, the Kaokoveld area or Reneville has produced a small number of exceptional specimens. Two large doubly terminated prisms, to 2.1 cm, are aesthetically set with smaller crystals on this sculptural miniature plate. The lustrous, translucent crystals have very rich dark emerald-green color, which is typical for fine specimens from this obscure locale. The Pimbi deposit was opened in 1908 and has intermittently produced fine specimens since then. A must for the species or locality collector.
