Item Description

Lustrous and gemmy, rich emerald-green dioptase crystals to about 8 mm are aesthetically and richly clustered on the sparkly drusy calcite-covered limestone matrix on this very attractive specimen from the Type Locality in Kazakhstan, Altyn Tyube. A bit of scattered bruising is noted, but this remains a showy, rich and highly representative older example of the species and famous locale. The locality information on the faded label from the 1950s to 70s exemplifies the age of the piece. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON. Ex Rukin Jelks Collection.
