Item Description
Scintillating, gemmy, rich emerald-green dioptase are festooned on the sculptural, large blocky limestone matrix covered with sparkly calcite crystals from the famous Type Locality Altyn-Tyube deposit in Kazakhstan.The large crystal is 1.0 cm. Patches of light green malachite are a typical accessory. Only scattered trivial crystal bruising amidst all the crystal density and basal periphery wear to the crystals are noted, but have very minimal impact to the overall high quality and richness of this classic and excellent large example. It is very showy and holds its own in case. We have not seen such large pieces since the 1990s. See the fine locality article in the current 2023 Mineralogical Record issue, Vol. 54, No. 2
