Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of Dioptase that was simply labeled as coming from "near Baker, California", presumably from Otto Mountain, but it's hard to say for sure. With that said, the piece features a good coverage of hundreds of micro, sparkling, brilliant emerald green colored Dioptase crystals coating the host rock matrix. Minor Quartz can be seen on the specimen as well. If you collect minerals of the United States or specifically California, or worldwide Dioptase specimens, don't miss out on this elusive piece of Dioptase. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2105). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
