Dioptase (rare locality specimen)

A great rarity for any fan of Dioptase! Peruvian Dioptase is rare in and of itself, and this is the ONLY specimen we've ever had to offer from this locality. Then throw in the fact that it's a full sized cabinet display specimen, and you have a something special in my mind. This piece is loaded with dozens of sharp, lustrous, deep emerald green trigonal crystals of Dioptase sitting atop Chrysocolla(?) on host rock matrix. The largest Dioptase crystal measures about 6 mm long. No major damage that I can see. It's impossible to say if we will ever have another one of these to offer, so if you're a collector of worldwide Dioptase specimens or minerals from Peru, don't miss out. Specimens like this are essentially impossible to find in today's market, and you can only get them when premier worldwide collections like this become available. I would value this one in the $3,000 range retail. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#72 Pe), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
