Dioptase on Shattuckite (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

A now classic example of the famous pieces from the famous copper producing region Kaokoveld region featuring rich emerald green colored trigonal crystals of Dioptase measuring up to 4 mm sitting on / in a "velvety" vug of radiating blue Shattuckite. The piece is essentially a "crust" of Shattuckite that is completely filled with Dioptase and crystallized Shattuckite, and there is no attached matrix, but it's still sturdy and beautifully crystallized. Shattuckite is not found in well-crystallized specimens, and the Namibian material is among the best and most well known Shattuckites in the world. This specimen comes from the collection of Brian Kosnar, and was formerly in the collection of Wouter Van Tichelen.
