Item Description

In the last 50+ years, there have only been a few world localities which have produced superb Dioptase specimens. Going back to the late 2000s, we started seeing some impressive pieces of Dioptase coming out of the Pool Department of the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville). The best specimens host larger than average crystals with fine color, sharpness, luster and sometimes EXCELLENT gemminess. Here we have a wonderful eye-catching toenail sized display specimen featuring sharp, lustrous, gemmy, trigonal, classic emerald green color Dioptase crystals which measure up to 1.4 cm sitting on a thin layer of powder blue Shattuckite / Plancheite on matrix. No damage that I can see with the naked eye. I really love how the Dioptase group is isolated, giving it distinction and the ability to stand out. The combination, form, and overall aesthetic appeal makes this a very desirable and high quality specimen of this very attractive material.
