Dioptase on Calcite (old and rare) Rob Smith Coll.

Item Description

A 1.5 cm, gemmy and lustrous, rich emerald-green dioptase crystal is very aesthetically set on the matrix plate covered with sparkly, colorless, lightly frosted, complex calcite rhombs. The dioptase is much darker from here, than typical Tsumeb material. This classic, excellent and rare combination specimen is from the old German workings at the much more obscure, at the time, Kaokoveld area. Collected prior to World War II, this piece is from the Rob Smith Collection, a noted Tsumeb specialist.
