Dioptase on Calcite and Plancheite

Emerald-green Dioptase on white Calcite is regarded as one of the Kaokoveld's definitive mineral combinations, and undoubtedly can be found on most collector's 'must-have' lists. The centerpiece of this very fine miniature is a wonderful 1.9 cm Dioptase crystal that displays beautifully as it sits on a bed of white Calcite rhombs (that also have an unusual, whitish-purple fluorescence). One side of this impressive Dioptase has superb, mirror-like luster, while the other side of the crystal, as well as the rest of the piece, has a coating of drusy and lustrous small Dioptases. All of these are gemmy enough that at any one time you can see dozens of electric-green flashes all across the piece. And not to be undone, the matrix below the Calcites is actually a layer of powder-blue Plancheite, which adds even more interest and beauty to this excellent and aesthetic miniature. GORGEOUS!
