Item Description
Fine example of one of Tsumeb's most coveted prizes, its specimens of Dioptase on Calcite in combination with absolute contrast of the colors. The sheer beauty and contrast of the lustrous, deep-green Dioptase crystals sitting on a sparkly field of small white Calcite crystals is captivating. The lower portion, a continuous cluster of Dioptases up to 1.5 cm, anchors this small-cabinet piece, while the individual Dioptases, to 1.1 cm, float through the crystalline white air like tumbling, angular balloons. The Calcite has classic, pinkish-orange fluorescence. Such stark beauty confirms why these specimens are classic not only for Tsumeb, but the mineral world as a whole. This dates to the mid 1980s.
