Item Description

Tsumeb is one of the greatest mineral localities of all time, and one of its signature mineral combinations is Dioptase on Calcite. Here, the gemmy to translucent, glassy, deep green Dioptase crystals dramatically accent translucent white Calcite rhombs on a matrix of Calcite. The large, prominent Dioptase measures 1.2 cm and there are numerous, super lustrous, 1 to 5 mm crystals in association. The Calcite rhombs vary between 0.5 and 1.3 cm in maximum dimension and make the colorful Dioptase crystals stand out nicely. The Dioptase and Calcite at the central part of the piece are in excellent condition with some minor contacting of both around the periphery. A showy small cabinet Dioptase piece from this famous locality. Not important in size, but it sure is sparkly!
