Item Description

The three small copper mines in the Guchab area were active from only 1908 to 1927 and produced superb dioptase specimens long before Tsumeb. This impressive and rich large specimen, from a museum collection, features gemmy and lustrous, rich emerald-green dioptase crystals. These beautiful crystals have a very similar, yet slightly different look, than Tsumeb dioptase. The dramatic large crystal on the edge is 2.0 x 1.6 cm and there are a few calcite rhombs scattered about. One area of bruising and periphery wear on noted on this piece, but this remains a rare, large and rich old example from this obscure locale. Very seldom on the market. Valued at $1500-2000 and comes with the musuem label, where is was on exhibit. The numbers match. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!!
