Item Description
Dioptase is known from a few world localities in superb quality specimens, but recently (December of 2016) there was a SUPERB new find of material near Kimbedi, which is a small village on the railroad between Mindouli and Lutete in Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville) - NOT Democratic Republic of Congo. These specimens show great color, with larger sized crystals and EXCELLENT gemminess. This specimen hosts sharp, gemmy, rich emerald green color Dioptase crystals measuring up to 2.1 cm creating an attractive miniature The piece is in great shape overall, with only a tiny little bit of roughness around the edges where it was removed from the pocket wall, but the main crystal is rally what matters here. This find seemed to be somewhat limited, and hopefully will produce more of this SUPERB quality Dioptase. I was thrilled to acquire the entire lot, and these specimen are some of the most exciting specimens of the species to hit the market in a decade. With the price of Tsumeb Dioptase specimens rising daily, this is a great opportunity to snag a "Tsumeb"-like specimen of this species for a fraction of the price. Valued at $1,600 in the inventory.
