Dioptase (large sized crysals)

When it comes to Dioptase crytals, it's rare to find examples that are larger than an inch (2.5 cm), but the specimens from the Kaokoveld Plateau in Namibia are some of the largest individual examples you'll see from any locality. This piece is a great toenail sized specimen of this material featuring a few trigonal emerald green Dioptase crystals that are well over and inch in length, with sharp, well-formed faces. When backlit, the crystals show minor translucency, but it's the size here that really matter. The front side of the piece is in very good condition, but the crystals are sheared on the back, so the piece is not 100% comlete. Good crystallized Dioptase is only found in a handful of worldwide localities these days, and crystals of this size and quality are rare. Priced at $2,000 retail in our inventory.
