Good Dioptase specimens are always in demand, and the pieces from the Kaokoveld Plateau are some of the best modern-day Dioptase specimens out there. This beautiful miniature specimen showcases a large, sharp, lustrous, fine emerald green, gemmy trigonal crystal group free of matrix. There is some color mottling on the surface, which ranges from a darker emerald green to more of a mint green hue. With strong backlighting, you can see a bit of glowing color on each end of the piece. The piece is actually doubly-terminated, though the second termination on the end of the specimen has a partially incomplete growth, where it was interrupted during formation. You don't see a lot of Dioptase crystals that measure 4.0+ cm like this, and if you collect secondary ore minerals, gem crystals or just worldwide Dioptase crystals, don't miss out on this beauty.
