Dioptase (fine quality)

Here we have a piece from the mid 2000s in the Kimbedi area of Republic of the Congo. This is not from the more contemporary finds at the Mpita or Ntola Mines. Dioptase is known from a handful world localities in superb quality specimens (most notably Tsumeb), but the material in the Pool Department is certainly in the upper ranks. These specimens show great color, with larger sized crystals and EXCELLENT gemminess. This specimen hosts many sharp, strong emerald green color Dioptase crystals on matrix. creating an attractive specimen. The piece is in great shape overall with excellent gemminess and glistening luster. The largest crystal measures 2.0 cm. Most of the crystals are pristine, though there is some roughness around the periphery where the piece was separated from the pocket wall. Considering there is a premium value on Tsumeb Dioptase specimens, this is a great opportunity to snag a "Tsumeb"-esque specimen of this species for a fraction of the price.
