Item Description

This mine is certainly one of the most revered of all Arizona localities, and is considered among the most classic localities in the United States. The distinctive Dioptase from this mine is among the most easily recognizeable specimens from any locality in the world. This piece hosts patches of vibrant emerald green, micro Dioptase crystals on matrix. These specimens are highly sought after by Arizona collectors, and are becoming very difficult to obtain the market these days. Don't miss out on this great U.S. classic. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with a typed label from Wulff on one of his famous 3x5 index cards that states the piece was obtained from V. D. Hill. Considering the piece is number 16 in Wulff's collection, it easily dates back around 70 years.
