Dioptase and Calcite (ex R.D. Mushlitz)

Item Description

This small cabinet, classic example of Dioptase on Calcite from Tsumeb features two prominent, and several smaller, lustrous, gemmy, dark emerald green Dioptase crystals up to 1.6 cm in size on white Calcite in a modest sized vug. The two, perfectly formed, largest crystals here, along with a smaller companion, have an intensely saturated color and high luster with hints of bright green internal reflections. There are several more, smaller Dioptase crystals tucked down in the vug and they have rich color and good luster too. There is contacting at the front perimeter of the granular Dioptase at the bottom of the vug that adds another hue of green to this intriguing piece. There are even two, tiny, 2 and 3 mm Cerussite crystals just inside the right side of the vug for added interest. A very colorful Dioptase from this long-closed classic locality. Ex. R.D.
