It's important to note that these Dioptase specimens were initially reported as coming from the Mpita Mine, but we have subsequently been informed that they are actually from the Ntola Mine. This particular specimen came from a discovery in January of 2019. Although Dioptase is a widely beloved mineral species, there aren't many world localities that produce excellent specimens, and the pieces from the Mindouli District in Rep. of Congo are some of the best Dioptase specimens to hit to market from any world locality in several years. This specimen is notably different from many of the others we've seen in the past as it feature somewhat spherical / "bubbly" forms Dioptase along with singular sharp, lustrous, rich emerald green trigonal Dioptase crystals measuring up to 6 mm on matrix. The gorgeous sparkling luster and intense emerald green hue are quite alluring and a great representation of how beautiful Dioptase can be. The piece is in great shape, and it's only contacted on the base/back where it was removed from the pocket wall. I had a lot of fun looking at this piece under the microscope. The unusual formation of the Dioptase along with the fact that Dioptase prices are on the rise makes this a very desirable and eye-catching specimen from this exciting locality in Republic on Congo.
