A classic specimen from the famous Val d'Ala (Ala Valley) in the Piedmont of Italy featuring sharp, lustrous, gemmy, soft green prismatic crystals of Diopside measuring up to 7 mm associated with soft orange colored "Hessonite" Garnet (Grossular Garnet). A good reference association specimen of this classic material from the Italian Alps. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1276). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
