Item Description
These specimens came out around 2000, and I have only seen two different finds of this material in that span of time. The piece is a sharp, lustrous/waxy, rich green, gemmy prism of Diopside free of matrix. With backlighting, the crystal shows good internal gemminess. It's also notably sharp with well-formed faces, which is better than most I've seen of this style, as a lot of them are slightly "rounded" and don't show as good of crystallization as this piece. If you collect gem crystals, I'm sure most of you don't have a good Afghani Diopside in your collection, so don't miss out on this showy and good quality example from this limited find. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
