Item Description
Diopside is well known from different worldwide environments, but crystals from this marble quarry in Jefferson County, Montana are not common. This piece is a beautiful group of medium green to deep forest green prismatic crystals from the Boulder Batholith. The piece is crystallized on the front and back with sharp, lustrous, well-defined faces, and actually will pass a tiny amount of light when backlit. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12762). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
