Item Description
RARE, rich, impressive and sculptural large combination from well-known San Benito County, home of the famous 'California State Gem Mine' (Benitoite's Type Locality!) or Dallas Gem Mine. A striking 10.0 wide dense nest of gemmy and lustrous, tan Diopside needles with a few lamellar crystals is aesthetically set on the fantastic large, boot-shaped matrix richly covered on all three sides with tiny, sharp, splendent, sparkly, Andradite variety Melanite garnets. The "sole" of the "boot" is festooned with melanites, a real bonus. A VERY RARE and rich large diopside and melanite combination from the county. A must for the species or locality collector.
