Item Description

This piece is an excellent and fairly hard to find CRYSTAL GROUP of Diopside from the Yates Mine in Quebec, Canada. These specimens are almost completely absent from the market today. The piece originally had a note that stated it was from "'Hudder's Field' (Huddersfield), Quebec", but this was often the case for these pieces, and you can see even though there is no actual locality at Huddersfield, it does have an entry that leads to the Yates Mine on mindat ( https://www.mindat.org/feature-5978122.html ). This piece features a pair of a well-formed, classic, sharp, semi-lustrous, muted brownish-green color, prismatic crystals of Diopside free of matrix. The piece is complete all around, and the only damage is on the base where it was separated from the pocket wall. We've mostly seen single crystals from this locality, so to find a group like this is a big deal. Certainly one of the finest examples of Diopside that we've ever had to offer from this locality. A showy piece of this seldom seen material which dates back to the mid 1970s. Valued $1,800.
