Diopside (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A nice reference specimen of tan-grey Diopside from the Orford Nickel Mine. The piece shows several sharp, lustrous, prismatic crystals, but neither end is terminated, so it's not a top quality display specimen. These pieces (especially the older tan-grey colored ones) are still very hard to find on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#998). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
