Item Description
This exceptionally well-formed, tabular diopside crystal has lustrous prism faces and a matte termination. Most of the prism faces have a light brown sugar-brown coating over the light green-yellow crystal. The uncoated termination and portions of the sides are beautifully translucent/gemmy, which is uncommon to the species and locale. At one time, crystals of this material were fairly plentiful, but specimens of this size and quality were always hard to find. The older label says Magog, but this piece is undoubtably from the Orford Mine.
