Diopside (Chromian Diopside) (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A classic old time specimen of fine rich green colored chromium-bearing Diopside crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm long sitting on massive Quartz with minor associated Pyrrhotite from the famous locality at Outokumpu, Finland. There are some distinct crystal faces that can be seen on a few of the Diopside crystals, but many of them are only partial to incomplete crystals. A great historic specimen from the locality that produced some of the fines crystals of Uvarovite in the world. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#409). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
