Diopside (Chromian Diopside) (ex Albert Sebela and Frank Levy Collections)

Item Description

A classic old time specimen of fine rich green colored chromium-bearing Diopside with crystals measuring up to 3.7 cm long sitting on massive Quartz with minor associated Pyrrhotite from the famous locality at Outokumpu, Finland. There are some distinct crystal faces that can be seen on a couple of the Diopside crystals, but many of them are only partial to incomplete crystals. A great historic specimen from the locality that produced some of the finest crystals of Uvarovite in the world. The piece comes with a label from Frank Levy that states it was part of Al Sebela's collection, along with another old label from the legendary mineral dealer Larry Conklin that dates back several decades.
