Item Description

The world"s finest crystallized digenite specimens have undoubtedly come from the famous mines at Butte and this is an excellent and very rare combination example from the Robert Whitmore Collection. The large plate features intergrown clusters of sharp, moderately lustrous and lightly iridescent, dark-gray digenite crystals with typical rounded ends and terminations with rare, sparkly, brassy, microcrystalline pyrite, that has totally or partially pseudomorphed parallel-growth clusters of tabular covellite crystals. A couple of quartz points stick out, as a further accent. Classic, old-time and rare combination pseudomorph material from this noted locale. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection. Value of such an important rarity ??? Probably $1000-1500 range
