Diaspore with Hematite

These Diaspore crystals are the standard for the species with their excellent color, size and gemminess. There was a time when these specimens were old classics, rarely seen on the market, but now, re-mining efforts for specimens here have produced a brief burst of this old gem material again. This piece is from the newer mining efforts, and features that classic light yellow-green color under incandescent lighting which shifts to more of a pinkish-yellow hue under halogen lighting. A good portion of the main crystal is rather gemmy. Many Diaspore crystals from this locality are actually twinned, while this appears to feature un-twinned crystals with minor grey-black Hematite and a tiny bit of matrix on matrix. It's not completely damage free, as there is roughness around the edges, but if it were pristine, the value would be significantly higher. With that said, it's still priced at $1,000 retail in our inventory. An eye-catching example of these truly world-class Diaspores.
