Diaspore is typically found in opaque crystals around the world, so gem material is rare, and the most famous gem quality Diaspore is found in Selçuk District in Turkey. Keep in mind that there are truly only a few places in the world, where fine gem grade Diaspore is found, and the Turkish material is certainly the apex for the material. Sometimes you'll see this material marketed under the trade name "Zultanite" or "Csarite", but it's all Diaspore. This stone has a lovely soft sandy-golden hue with a "Brilliant Oval" cut and only very slight inclusions. It's hard to find good gem Diaspores today because the entire locality has been purchased as a large commercial operation, so the supply is under control by a single operator now. If you collect rare gems, don't miss out on this beauty for a great price. It's certainly what we would call "collector quality" because it's well over 1 carat in weight, which is one of the criteria for collector gems.
