Item Description
This is a large gem crystal for the species (18 grams), read-through in clarity and transparency, of diaspore. Most collectors would consider these historic mines of Turkey to be the premiere source for gem diaspore crystals of any significance (from other locales, it is usually a boring rock-former). Crystals this size, showing such clarity and this classic rich greenish-brown color, are hard to obtain. This is a display quality crystal, and in a case shows an unusual surface shimmer characteristic of the material but hard to photograph. This is one of the larger gem crystals I have seen in recent years, and is valued $500-600.
