Turkish Diaspore doesn't get enough credit for its supreme quality. Most Diaspore found outside of Turkey is either too microscopic or too opaque to even consider for any kind of gems, and the amount of transparent Diaspore in Turkey is amazing for what it is. There are truly only a few places in the world, where fine gem Diaspore is found, but the Turkish material from the Selçuk District is certainly the best ever found. Sometimes you'll see this material marketed under the trade name "Zultanite" or "Csarite", but it's all Diaspore. This stone is a lovely soft yellow colored, "Oval" cut gem with nearly eye clean clarity. It's hard to find good gem Diaspores today because the entire locality has been purchased as a large commercial operation, so the supply is under control by a single operator now. If you collect rare gems, don't miss out on this little beauty for a great price.
