Item Description

A very hard to find natural Diamond crystal from Colorado! Yes, in addition to amazing ore body minerals, pegmatite deposits, and various sedimentary locales, there are even kimberlites in Colorado! The area near the central Colorado / Wyoming border is home to eight different kimberlite pipes, and a couple of them have been producing crystallized Diamonds in varying value from commercial grade to fine gem quality. This attractive crystal shows a modified octahedral / dodecahedral habit with some notably sharp and fairly lustrous faces, and an attractive smoky color. From what I understand there are no more crystals coming out at the moment, and as far as I know, this locality is the only commercially operating Diamond mine in the United States. This crystal is not what I would call small by Kelsey Lake standards, and how often does one have the opportunity to purchase a genuine U.S. Diamond crystal? Don't miss out.
