Item Description
A notably sharp and very good sized textbook Diamond crystal from the famous Miba Mine. I just picked this piece up from a friend at the Denver Show and it's certainly one of the the best crystals of this particular morphology that I've had to offer. The ratio of cube to octahedral to dodecahedral faces is nearly equal on all sides so you can see a perfect balance of the square cubic faces with the trianglur octahedral faces and the slender rectangular dodec faces. This habit is VERY hard to find in Diamonds, especially in big crystals like this one! Look around and see how few 4+ carat Diamonds with this habit are available on the market. The luster is very good, and the piece is even translucent when backlit showing a greenish-silver hue. The piece is complete "floater" and is crystallized all the way around. No damage. Based upon the size and weight of the piece, I value it highly as they are A fine old time crystal dating back around 50-60 years from D R Congo.
