Item Description
A rare, uncommon and highly desirable Brazilian specimen of a gemmy, glassy and lightly frosted, 4 mm, triangular, diamond crystal nestled amongst conglomerate river pebbles and cobbles from the famous Diamantina River of Minas Gerais. These alluvial diamonds, deposited into conglomerates over time, are the reason this region of Brazil was named after an old-time diamond rush! SELDOM are such specimens preserved, for obvious reasons! This one, amazingly, has very prominent pebbles and cobbles on both sides! The diamond rests on a 5.3 cm flat cobble. For overall aesthetics, this one is about the best we have offered at auction. These came out of Brazil 40-50 years ago. Valued $2000.
