Descloizite with Quartz

Item Description

A very sculptural specimen dominated by divergent sprays of relatively large, almost arborescent Descloizite crystals from the classic Berg Aukas Mine in Namibia, the best locality in the world for the species. The piece consists of many many, elongated, tapered and stepped crystals with high luster. These dark crystals average about 1.4 cm in length, and the uniformity of the crystals adds significantly to the aesthetics. A few of the crystals are missing from this dense cluster, but this does not affect the overall geometry and beauty of this bouquet-like, small cabinet piece. This is the more "traditional" look for fine Berg Aukas Descloizites. Gorgeous! From the extensive collection of Bob Reynolds, who cherished both minerals and fossils as he collected. Bob is a prolific author and has had several curating positions in museums.
