The famous Berg Aukas Mine of Namibia has produced the worlds finest descloizite specimens and this is an superb example. Splendent, sharp, jet-black, spearpoint-shaped crystals cover both sides of this striking, two-sided rib. Beautiful iridescence is noted on some blades! Some of the blades on both sides have a preferential coating of rust-red descloizite or iron oxides. The specimen is very nearly pristine, with only one broken crystal on each side. Amazing for such density. This super piece displays well from either side and is an outstanding example of the species and famous locality, which closed in 1978. Ex Howard Belsky Collection and comes with a former dealer label with a $375 price. This was EXPENSIVE, prior to Belskys untimely death in 1987. There are lots of these out there, but few as good as this. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!
