Descloizite on Barite (unusual combination) ex. Webb

Item Description

A highly unusual locality specimen, the likes of which I have not myself seen in all the old African collections we have handled. Pseudo-stalactites of parallel growth, lustrous, tan colored barite growths are studded here with lustrous, black crystals of descloizite, to 1 cm in length. The crystals of descloizite are unusually discrete and well formed. I honestly wasn't sure what I was looking at, at first, til I saw the old label with it (ex Knapp collection). This makes for a fascinating color and textural contrast.
