Descloizite (excellent xls)

Item Description

The famous Berg Aukas Mine of Namibia has produced the worlds finest descloizite specimens and this is a very fine example. The intergrown deiscloizite spearpoints on front of this striking, arborescent crystal cluster glisten with high luster. They look like the scales of a reptile. The edge-on view is dramatic, with the branching blades. The blades on the backside have a secondary overgrowth of rust-red descloizite. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, with only a couple of gently bruised crystals. This fine piece is a super representative example of the species and famous locality, which closed in 1978.
