Item Description
Densely intergrown arborescent sprays of glassy Descloizite spearpoints form a sculptural small cabinet from the famous extinct Berg Aukas Mine in Namibia, the best locality in the world for the species. The highly lustrous silvery crystals look mostly to be dark brown in normal light, but bright light reveals beautiful flashes of orange-red translucence, adding pizzazz. In great shape overall, for all the crystal density, with only a few barely noticeable broken spearpoints near the base of the piece. See the 1997 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 28, No. 2. The piece displays well without aid. Classic and excellent Berg Aukas Descloizite. Valued at $500 by the former dealer.
