Arborescent crystal clusters with 'feather-like' Descloizite crystals are one of the most distinctive habits from the famous Berg Aukas Mine in Namibia, which has produced the world's best Descloizite specimens. The crystals, which range up to 1.4 cm, grow densely along this stalk, yet looking at their intricate detail you can't help but get an airy and wondrous impression. The luster is good, almost metallic, and the color varies sharply from brown to black on close inspection. Really quite three-dimensional, this small cabinet piece well-represents this Zn-Pb-V deposit, which was discovered in 1913 and mined until 1978. These pieces are part of a century-old Italian collection that was recently acquired.
