Descloizite

Item Description

A rich and sculptural large specimen of densely intergrown parallel-growth sprays of rounded descloizite blades. The highly lustrous silvery crystals look mostly to be dark brown in normal light, but bright light reveals beautiful flashes of orange-red translucence, adding pizzazz. In great shape overall, for all the crystal density, with only a few barely noticeable broken blades in the interior of the piece. Interesting conglomerate matrix with quartz fragments and the cluster of descloizite blades at the bottom of the piece adds more character. The famous extinct Berg Aukas Mine in Namibia is the best locality in the world for the species. See the 1997 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 28, No. 2.
