Dave Wilber's Business card / Measuring Ruler

Item Description

This is the legendary 1960s  measuring-stick-slash-business card of the King of Perfection, the High Priest of Minerals, the Oracle of Tucson... the great Dave Wilber; a man so careful and so persnickety about quality that he lent his own last name to the terminology we use to describe the most extremely tiny of dings and damage as a "wilber" today. Enough said! This combination calling card and measuring stick of Dave's was a quirky way he stood out (aside from his other quirks) as he rapidly made himself a dominating presence in the mineral collecting world in the 1950s-1970s. Dave was intense about both quality and competitive sizing, but I think he used this more as a calling card of distinction than as a measure of his minerals' competition sizing. It came our way in an old collection from a few of my own mentors, Bill and Anne Cook, and I have kept it for awhile myself in memory of Dave. (Donated by Rob Lavinsky)
