Datolite (old classic) (ex Al Kidwell Collection)

Item Description

These old time green Datolites are rarely seen on the market today, but they were some of the premier examples of the species years ago, as they predate the famous Dalnegorsk specimens of equal color and quality. This specimen is filled with fine quality, sharp, lustrous, translucent, soft greenish colored crystals measuring up to 2.5 cm on minor matrix. No damage, outside of the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. A showy example of these wonderful specimens from Charcas. From the worldwide mineral collection of Albert Lewis Kidwell (January 1, 1919 - August 16, 2008). Al was a well-known mineral collector and research geologist with Carter Oil Company and later Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas. The phosphate species Kidwellite was named in his honor in 1974.
